MOGADISHU– Somalia’s Health Ministry on Thursday confirmed another new case of COVID-19, bringing the total number so far to two.

Health Minister Fawziya Abikar told a press conference in Mogadishu that the latest patient was among a group of people, who were quarantined at a government facility after returning from one of the countries most affected by COVID-19.

The minister said the patient, who is a Somali citizen, did not show any symptoms of novel coronavirus such as fever, difficulty in breathing or cough during the arrival last week.

The ministry is also tracing people who traveled with the first patient on the same flight, noting that a toll-free number 449 has been set up for the public to seek advice and report suspected cases across the country.
