MOGADISHU, Somalia – The chairman of Banadir Regional Court of Somalia, Muse Mo’alim Mohamed has called on public people to stop to seek justice from Al Shabaab, an al Qaeda-linked group in Somalia.
Speaking to Radio Shabelle, Mohamed urged country’s citizens to avoid from looking for justice in the mobile courts run by the group.
He says such move could violate country’s judicial system.
Mohamed called on the people to show their confidence to judicial institutions.
In 2019, Somalia’s chief justice, Bashe Yusuf Ahmed issued an ultimatum to anyone, who travels to Al-Shabaab controlled areas to seek justice.
Many Somalis look for justice in the mobile courts operated by the militant group when they feel injustice or lose their cases at courts in the capital, Mogadishu.
The country’s judicial system is still yet to take shape.
The Islamic militant group Al-Shabaab has been seeking to establish Sharia Law throughout Somalia.
The insurgent group still continues bombing different parts of Somalia, despite losing key towns in south and central to country’s army and African Union force in Somalia.
