IS claims bomb attack on Ex-Minister’s vehicle in Bosaso

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Islamic State has claimed the responsibility for Sunday’s bomb attack on a vehicle carrying former Planning Minster of Puntland in Bosaso town, a commercial hub in the north of Somalia.

Shire Haji Farah, who was Planning Minister of Puntland has survived after an IED explosion targeted his bulletproof vehicle near Ramadan hotel in the town.

The attack injured one of his bodyguards, according to police.

The Islamic State has claimed to have responsible for the attack.

The group has its main base in Bari region’s mountains of Puntland.

The militants have rump up assaults in the coastal city on the Gulf of Aden in recent months.
