Djibouti, AU slams Mogadishu bombing

MOGADISHU, SomaliaThe Djibouti and African Union ambassadors to Somalia condemned a suicide bomb attack on Mogadishu mayor’s office in the Somali capital, leaving 10 people dead.
 
Amb. Aden Hassan Aden of Djibouti and Francisco Madeira of African Union sent their condolences and sympathies to the nation of Somalia.
 
Mogadishu Mayor Abdirahman Osman was seriously injured on Wednesday’s attack when a female suicide bomber blew herself up a meeting hall where local government officials were holding a security meeting.

Two distinct commissioners were also among the dead, according to police .

Al-Shabaab confirmed that they were behind the attack. Somalia continues to suffer from the impact of insurgency waged by the Al-Qaeda affiliated group.

The insurgents have routinely launched attacks in parts of the capital using suicide bombs and improvised explosive devices, IEDs, which have often claimed lives and led to destruction of property.
