US says 3 Al Shabaab killed in new strike in Somalia

MOGADISHU, Somalia – The U.S. military says it has killed three al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab in a drone strike carried out in Golis Mountains of Somalia’s Puntland.

U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Robert Huston, deputy director of operations, U.S. Africa Command says it had conducted sixth airstrike in the last month against Islamic State and Al Shabaab in the Golis Mountains.

Robert Huston says three al Shabaab militants were killed, 2 days after three others were also killed air strike in north of Somalia.

“At this time, it is assessed the airstrike killed three (3) militants”, he said.

He added no civilians were injured or killed as a result of this airstrike.  .

However, U.S. says it would continue targeting al Shabaab and Islamic State in support of the government of Somalia.
