Somali police arrest Al Shabaab suspect after bomb attack

MOGADISHU– Somali Police Forces have arrested an Al Shabaab suspect after grenade attack on police station in Mogadishu.

The suspected man, who was on loose has been detained after an operation carried out in Yaqshid district of Mogadishu, police spokeswoman Zakio Hussein said.

Hussein says the suspect hurled a grenade bomb at police station where police officers had meeting before his departure on Saturday.

The attacker was taken into police station for further interrogations.

Somali police also detained suspected gunmen, who robbed telecom branch in Mogadishu after an attack at Seybiano area.

The police forces have beefed up the overall security of the capital, in a bid thwarts attempted attacks by al Shabaab during the holy month of Ramadan.

Mogadishu capital has seen deadly suicide attacks and assassinations, with most of those attacks were claimed by al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab.

The group, which was ousted of Mogadishu in 2011, wants to topple the weak-western backed government of Somalia.
