MOGADISHU, Somalia – Multiple casualties have been reported on Sunday in a roadside bomb attack on civilian minivan near Somali capital Mogadishu.

The explosion ripped through the minivan with civilian passengers near Afgoye town, while heading to Mogadishu, a witness said.

He says the bus ran over the landmine explosion, causing multiple casualties.

KNN, a local radio based in Mogadishu, reported heavy casualties inflicted on scores of people after the bomb attack.

It remains unclear the exact target of the explosion.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for Sunday’s explosion.

But, bomb attacks and other assassinations are often carried out by al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab.

The group has been waging insurgency for more than ten years in Somalia.
