Ethiopian troops hit by explosion in Somalia

MOGADISHU, Somalia – A roadside bomb explosion has targeted Ethiopian military forces under African Union mission in Somalia.

The explosion ripped through an armored personnel carrier near Celbarde town while heading to Hudur town, the capital of Bakool region in southern Somalia.

It is unclear how many soldiers were killed or injured in the explosion.

Somali armed group Al Shabaab has claimed the responsibility for the bomb attack.

The group says it had killed several Ethiopian soldiers in the attack.

There was no immediate comment from Ethiopian contingent in Somalia over the attack.

The al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab has been fighting for more than ten years in Somalia.

The group also carried out similar attacks in Somali capital Mogadishu, leaving dozens dead for the last couple months.
