Somali police officer survives bomb attack in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU – Somali police officer has survived an unsuccessful assassination attempt on his life on Wednesday after bomb fitted into his car exploded in the capital of Mogadishu.

The explosion left a civilian wounded, a witness said.

He says a colonel Koronto was unharmed and he was away when his car exploded near Shaqalaha junction in the capital of Mogadishu.

The victim was taken into hospital.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for Wednesday’s bomb attack.

It is 4th explosion took place in Mogadishu since Saturday.

Last week, Somali armed group claimed suicide attack near police academy in the capital, leaving two people dead.

The group has been fighting for more than ten years in Somalia.

The Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab was driven out of Mogadishu in 2011, but the group still hold large swaths in south and central Somalia.
