Somali PM starts talks with World Bank over debt cancellation

WASHINGTON, US – Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire has started talks with World Bank over debt cancellation in United States’ capital, Washington.

Mr. Khaire says he had begun his first day of World Bank Spring Meetings with an informative discussion with Vice-President for World BankAfrica, Hafez Ghanem on fast tracking our reforms with a view to attaining debt relief and immense opportunities for Somalia.

“We have held talks with the World Bank Vice President Hafez Ghanim in Washington, DC, and discussed on the progress of Somalia’s debt relief program and the reform of the financial system”, he said.

He will also attend series of spring meetings with International Financial Institutions, senior US government officials and other partners of Somalia with a view to putting more impetus into our national reforms agenda.

However, Somali PM and his delegation arrived in Washington on Sunday after departing from Somali capital Mogadishu.
