Somali president holds banquet in honor of Guelleh

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed has hosted a banquet in honor of Djibouti’s President Osmail Omar Guelleh on the occasion of his current visit to Somalia.

The inaugural of the Somalia and Djibouti Partnership event dinner was held at State House in Mogadishu.

President Guelleh arrived in Somalia on Saturday for a two-day official visit. He met with Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed as well as country’s PM Hassan Ali Khaire.

The two presidents discussed on the relations between the two brotherly and neighboring states, Ahead of the banquet.

President Gelle will be ribbon-cutting the newly built Djibouti embassy in Mogadishu on Sunday.

He will also visit to Beledweyne town, some 335km north of Somali capital Mogadishu, to meet Djibouti’s troops operating under African Union mission known as AMISOM.

Somalia played a key role during the struggle of independence of the strategic tiny horn of the African nation from the French colony in the 1970s.
