MOGADISHU, Somalia – Twin bomb explosions ripped through African Union armored personnel carrier in Somali capital Mogadishu.

The explosions went off on Wednesday when the African Union armored vehicle ran over bomb explosives concealed on the roadside, a witness said.

He says one African Union mission known as AMISOM vehicle was destroyed partially in the bomb attack.

The African Union troops sealed off at scene of the attack as sporadic gun shots could be heard.

It is unclear how many soldiers were killed in the explosions.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for Wednesday’s bomb attack in the capital of Mogadishu.

But, such attacks are often carried out by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab.

The group has been fighting for more than ten years to topple the weak-western backed government of Somalia.
