Somalia’s Puntland forces target Islamic State bases near Bosaso

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somalia’s Puntland forces have carried out joint military offensive against Islamic State bases in north of Bosaso town, amid rises fighting between Al Shabaab and Islamic State groups.

The joint military forces reportedly destroyed several militants’ bases around mountains in north of Bosaso.

Mohamed Ahmed Hussein, a military officer says its forces had arrested several people, whom he says were conspiring to join into Islamic State group.

The suspects were taken into police station in the town for further interrogations.

The Puntland military says it would continue targeting Islamic State bases and Al Shabaab, according to a statement by the military.
