MOGADISHU, Somalia – Up to 300 new Somali soldiers have on Wednesday completed police training in Garbaharey town, rising attacks by Al Shabaab

Top Somali police Chief Bashir Mohamed and other senior police officials have attended a closing police ceremony held in the town.

Mohamed congratulated the soldiers, urged the soldiers to execute their duties.

He asked the new soldiers liberate the overall security of the town from the military forces.

Mohamed says the military forces would launch new offensive against towns under al-Shabaab control in the region.

He also called on police soldiers to execute their duties and contribute to the ongoing fight against the Al Qaida-linked militants who want to topple the UN-backed government.

The group has lost key towns to Somali army and African Union forces, but still hold large swaths where is believed to launch attacks against the coalition forces’ bases.
