Somalia: UN, AU base hit by rockets in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Four mortar rounds have landed into Halane base, which hosts both UN and African Union personnel and is close to the airport in Somali capital Mogadishu.

The rockets fired by suspected Al Shabaab fighters rained down on the largest African Union headquarters in the capital of Mogadishu, a witness said.

The casualty remains unclear.

There was no immediate comment from African Union over the attack on its base the capital of Mogadishu.

No group has claimed the responsibility for Tuesday’s mortar attack, but such attacks after often carried out by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab.

The group carried out similar attacks which left dozens dead for past months in Somali capital Mogadishu.
