MOGADISHU, Somalia – At least one person has been killed and two others injured in bomb explosion on Sunday in Somali capital Mogadishu.
The explosion went off on Sunday after bomb explosive fitted into car exploded near Sayidka junction in the capital, leaving a driver dead and injured two other civilians, a witness, Geidi Hussein said.
The victim, whose name identified as Sa’id working for Somalia’s Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications was killed after bomb explosive fitted into car exploded at Syidka junction in the capital.
The victims were taken into hospital.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bomb explosion, but such attacks are often carried out by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab.
The group carried out similar attacks on popular hotels and restaurants in the capital for the past months.
Last month, Al Shabaab carried out suicide attack on hotel in Mogadishu and Islamic shrine in Galkacyo, killing dozens.
The group, which once controlled much of Mogadishu capital in 2011, wants to overthrow the UN-backed Somali government and has imposed a strict version of Sharia in areas under its control.
