MOGADISHU – The founder of Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab, the deadliest group in Africa, Sheikh Mukhtar Robow has met with David Concar, UK Ambassador to Somalia

The meeting was held in Baidoa town, some 250km southwest of Somali capital Mogadishu, after a delegation led by UK envoy arrived in Baidoa.

The sides discussed on issues including the upcoming presidential election in the South West State in Somalia.

Robow was deputy leader of Al Shabaab, but he later announced to have defected the group after arriving in Somali capital last year.

He wants to become country’s south west state president.

Robow was accused of playing key role killing dozens of civilians and recruiting children to fight alongside Al Shabaab, according to a report published by Human Rights Watch

HRW called for Somali government not allow Robow to run public office untill his crimes are cleared.
