A total of 124 illicit Somali migrants in the Libyan capital of Tripoli made their way back home deliberately, as unveiled the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the IOM confirmed the Somali migrants to have headed back to their homelands amid disputes in close proximity to Tripoli’s Mitiga International Airport.

The IOM stressed: “late last night, clashes erupted briefly around Mitiga airport, where our team was working to finalize procedures for 124 Somali migrants wishing to return home to Somalia.”

The IOM and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Libya received the appreciation of Somali Ambassador to Libya Ali Said Faqi for all the endorsement it granted to Somalia in the matter.
