Somali soldiers finish US-training course in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU – Up to 31 Somali especial forces known as ‘Danab’ have on Tuesday finished a high-level course in Mogadishu.

The training course was offered by US especail trainees based in Somali capital Mogadishu.

“It is important to offer especial training to our soldiers, in a bid to defeat Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab”, a military officer, Mohamed Hussein said.

He says the Somali soldiers, who got such training offerdd by US will ensure “we can overcome any challenges from our enemies.”

US deployed dozens of its especial forces into Somalia to help Somali army forces with African Union troops to win fighting against Al Shabaab.

Washington pledged that it woulf double its training to Somalia, amid increase of deadly attacks by Al Shabaab group.

US says the training will play key role in peacebuilding in Somalia.

“This training covered the full spectrum of security and emergency response issues, from scenario planning, security assessments, protective security and incident management to command and control”,.

The US president Trump administration approved expanded military operations against extremists in Somalia, including al-Shabaab, which is linked to al-Qaeda.
