Somalia: Two gunmen killed in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somali security forces have shot and killed two gunmen on board on Sunday in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu, witness and police said.

Somali police officer, Mohamed Hussein says the security forces suspected and chased a vehicle in which the gunmen were travelling in.

Hussein added two of three gunmen had been neutralized during a gunfight in the city’s Hodan district, adding that the 3rd one escaped.

He says a soldier was killed and two others injured in the clash with the gunmen in Mogadishu.

The victims were immediately rushed into hospital for medical treatment.

Somali security forces launched an operation to hunt down an attacker, who escaped, according to Hussein.

No arrested were made so far over the incident.

NUSOJ, an independent national Journalist says it has found out that suspected culprits who killed the young man Mohamed Shiekh in Mogadishu had been killed by security forces, while the 3rd one escaped.

There was no comment from Somali security officials over the clash in Somali capital Mogadishu.
