US strike kills 4 al-Shabab fighters in Somalia

MOGADISHU, Somalia – US military says it has killed four members of the al-Shabab in drone strike in Somalia.

The strike was conducted on Thursday about 74 miles northwest of Somali capital Mogadishu, according to U.S. Africa Command.

The airstrike becomes 19th such bombing this year against Al Qaeda inspired group of Al Shabaab.

The U.S. also has carried out a number of drone strikes against a small presence of fighters linked to the Islamic State organization in northern Somalia.

The U.S. says it assesses that no civilians were killed.

There was no immediate comment from Al Shabaab over the claims.
