Four people arrested ahead of Somali President’s visit to outside Mogadishu

Somali especial security forces with snifer dogs have arrested 4 men on suspecion of Al Shabaab, ahead of country’s president Mohammed Abdullahi’s visit to Afgoye town, some 30km south of the capital of Mogadishu.

The operation was carried out in the town, after hundreds of security soldiers were deployed to the towb earlier on Tuesday, a policeman, Mohammed Ahmed Hassan said.

Hassan says the the detainees had convicted to be members of Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab group.

He added that the suspects had been handed over to National Intelligence and Security Agency for further investigations.

Somali President, Mohammed is set to visit Afgoye town, a bid to meet with local and traditional elders in the town.

The security was beefed up by Somali security forces and dozens of other police soldiers have been visible in main streets of the capital city of Mogadishu.
