14 Somali officers arrested over Mogadishu attack

MOGADISHU, Somalia – At least 14 Somali security officers have been arrested on Monday over suicide bomb attack on Interior Ministry in Mogadishu, leaving 12 people dead.

The detainees were accused of being involved in Saturday’s attack on the Ministry building, a security officer, who asked to be anonymous, said.

He says the security officials were detained following security meeting chaired by Somali PM Hassan Ali Khaire in Mogadishu.

Numbers of Security chiefs are among those arrested over the attack, sources said.

The suspects were taken into custody for further interrogations.

Saturday’s attack was claimed by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab group.

The group also vowed to rump up its attacks against key areas, popular eateries, hotels, public gathering and government installations.
