Deadly fighting kills 20 people in south of Somalia

MOGADISHU – Fierce fighting broke out between Somali National Army (SNA) and Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab fighters in south of Somalia.

The fighting erupted in Somali’s southern village of Muse Haji in Lower Juba region on Tuesday evening, a military officer, Harun Mohamed said.

Mohamed told Mareeg Online that at least 20 al-Shabab militants after the fighters launched an attack on military base.

He says 3 government soldiers lost their lives during the gun battle.

“We have killed 20 militants and 5 others escaped with injuries while we have lost 3 soldiers in the clash”, he said.

There was no immediate comment from Al Shabaab over the military claims.
