Four killed in Al Shabaab attack on military base near Hudur

Heavily armed fighters from Al Shabaab have launched an attack on military base near Hudur town, some 302km northwest Somali capital Mogadishu.

The attack happened in Teed area, about 30km northwest of the town, after armed militants attacked military base manned by Somali forces, triggering fierce fighting.

Mayor of Hudur town, Mohamed Mo’alim confirmed that at least 4 government soldiers had been killed on Monday’s attack.

Mo’alim says the military forces had repulsed the attack by Al Shabaab fighters, inflicting heavy losses upon the attackers.

Somali-based group of Al Shabaab has claimed to have killed at least 4 soldiers through its website.

The group also says its fighters had briefly seized the military camp and taken away weapons.
