Two dead in suicide explosion in Somalia

MOGADISHU – A suicide car bomb exploded outside Somali military base near Kismayo town, a day after US fighter was killed and others injured in ambush attack by Al Shabaab.

The explosion happened in Bar Sanguni area, some 50km way from the town, after suicide bomber blew himself up at army base, killing two militants.

Somali military officer, Hussein Mohamed, said that the military troops had ‘foiled’ a suicide car bomb, after the soldiers opened fire the car and forcing it to detonate near the military base.

Mohamed says two militants were killed and one soldier wounded in the explosion.

The bomb blast went off where US especial commando was killed and 4 others wounded in the same base, according to a police officer, who asked to be anonymous.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the suicide explosion near Kismayo town, some 500km Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.
