Somalia: 7 people killed in Bardere fighting

BARDERE, Somalia – Heavy fighting broke out between Somali government forces and Al Shabaab fighters in Bardere town, killing at least seven people.

The fighting erupted after fighters armed with RPGs, machine guns and grenades launched an attack on military base in the town, triggering deadly clash.

Somali military officials say the forces repulsed the attack launched by Al Shabab, adding that four militants were killed during the clash.

“We have lost 3 soldiers during the gunfight with Al Shabaab. Our brave soldiers warded off the attack”, according to Somali military.

The military officials stated that an Al Shabaab militant, identified as Ibrahim Mohamed had been captured alive.

There was no comment from Al Shabaab over the claims.
