MOGADISHU, Somalia – U.S. military says it carried out on Friday a drone strike against Al Shabaab targets in Somalia, killing at least 12 militants.
A statement by U.S. Africa Command said that the strike was conducted about 50km south-west of Mogadishu in coordination with the Somali government.
The strike caused no civilian casualties, according to US military.
There was no response from Al Shabaab over the claims.
The group regularly launches attacks on government buildings, hotels and restaurants in Somalia.
