The Governor of Benadir who also is the Mayor of Mogadishu, H.E. Abdirahman Omar Osman (Eng. Yariisow) congratulated the Federal Government of Somalia, with the successful increase of the National Rvenue, which in the first three months of the year, has reached $ 42,5 Million, which is the highest ever.

The Governor pointed out that the population of Benadir Region are the foundation of the increase in The Federal Governments Revenue, by responsibly paying their taxes patriotically, and paid the net sum
of $ 42,5 Million which is making it possible for Somalia to get written off foreign debts.

“ It is a great pleasure for us to know that the Federal Government has passed the first phase of the preconditions set by the International Monetary Fund, a fact made possible Mogadishu population, who have fulfilled the responsibility vested on them as citizens, to pay their contributions which is the responsibility of each and every citizen.

Likewise, Governor Yariisow point out that, the Regional as well as the Municipality officials of Benadir have collectively participated the campain against corruption.

The Governor of Benadir Region stressed in strong terms, the importance that entire Somali population , in all regions of the country, participate in the endeavor to revive the revenues of the Central Government which is the pillars of a Government and the expansion of all basic public services. So far only Mogadishu residents pay taxes to the federal Government.

The International Monetary Fund has set as a precondition that, the Central Government increase its Revenues to be able to provide public service, a fact which in turn will allow the International Monitory Fund to write off the owed debts, and which in turn will make it possible for the country, to attract investments and enable to implement development projects.
