Somali military forces launched an operation against Al Shabaab targets near Burdhubo town.
The operation was carried out Tamase area near the town, leaving a militant official dead.
The DC of Burdhubo, Abdirahman Ibrahim Mohamed, said that the military offensive saw the death of militant commander.
Mohamed did not mention the name of slain commander of the Shebaab group.
There was no immediate reaponse from the militant group over the claims.
