The Minister of Finance Dr. Beileh stated that the Somali people must pay their taxes so that there can be more investment in public services.
Minister Beileh’s call for public tax payments came at a public hearing on the 2018 budget led by the Parliamentary Committee on Finance held in Jazeera hotel in Mogadishu.
Minister Beileh shared the challenges and opportunities presented by the 2018 budget with the Parliamentary Committee and the public participating in the discussions.
Among the highlights of the 2018 budget is that for the first time since the civil war, investment has been earmarked for health and education. The Minister also reiterated that greater efforts will be made in collecting domestic revenue to finance public investment.
