Somalia: Dozens arrested in operation near Mogadishu

MOGADISHU –  Somali security forces launched tough security operation to confirm the overall security in the capital city of Mogadishu.

The operation was carried out in Sheikh Ibrahim pylon neighborhood near the capital, a day after gunmen shot and killed an elder, named as Abdi Nunow, who was among South-West State delegates.

In an interview with AGGM, local residents said that dozens of people including young boys had been arrested in the operation.

“We saw dozens of people, who were arrested in the crackdown. The suspects were all taken into custody”, a witness, who asked to be unnamed told AGGM.

Somali security officials declined to comment on the operation.
