Deadly explosions hit Ethiopian troops in Somalia

MOGADISHU – Twine bomb explosions have targeted an Ethiopian troops’ armored personnel carrier near Baidoa town, some 250km south west of Somalia.

The explosions ripped through Ethiopian military convoy while heading to Bardale town after leaving from Baidoa town in Bay region, a witness said.

Several soldiers reportedly killed in the bomb attack on Monday.

The explosions claimed by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab through its website.

The group says it killed scores of Ethiopian soldiers serving under African Union peacekeeping force in Somalia.

There was no immediate comment from African Union mission in Somalia over the claims.
