Deadly rockets hit KDF camp in Lamu

MOGADISHU –Kenyan forces’ army camp came under mortar attack by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab group in the coastal town of Lamu, northeast of Kenya.

The happened after Al-Shabaab militants armed with RPGs and mortar rockets launched an attack on Kenyan army base in the town, causing untold number of casualty.

The attack was claimed by Al Shabaab through its website.

The Islamist group in Somalia says several mortar rounds rained down on Kenyan military base.

The group did not mention the exact number of casualty resulted in the attack.

Last month, Al Shabaab claimed to have killed at least 10 Kenyan military soldiers following massive attack on army camp in Lamu town.

The group also said its fighters had captured 3 other soldiers alive.

In a statement, Kenya military denies the claims by Al Shabaab, calling it as ‘ubsurd one’

Kenya military said the attack was launched by its forces and killed 11 militants during the operation.
