Three soldiers killed in ambush by Al Shabaab

BALADWEYNE — Three government soldiers have been killed in ambush attack near Baladweyne town, about 335km north of Mogadishu.

The attack happened in Kalabeyr area, some 25km from the town, when Al Shabaab fighters assailed army base.

Somali-based group Al Shabaab claimed to have carried out an attack on army base, killing 3 soldiers.

Somalia’s governor for Hiran region, Omar Aden told AGGM that the soldiers repulsed Al Shabaab attack, saying several militants were killed in the surprise attack.

The group’s fighters were driven out of key towns, but still launches deadly attacks on bases manned by Somali troops backed by African Union forces in south and central Somalia
