Somali military sentences 2 terrorists to death

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somali military court has sentenced two al Shabaab operatives to death for a bomb attack that killed a deputy district commissioner for Mahas town in Hiran region of central Somalia.

The defendants – Ali Ahmed Gure and Noor Ibrahim were accused of being responsible for delivering IED materials that were later planted on the deputy commissioner’s vehicle, who died in the explosion.

The court says the men were also members of al Qaeda linked al Shabaab group.

The 3rd suspect, Sheikh Elmi Awale, a Maha’s district commissioner was also slapped to remain in behind bars for the rest of his life after he was found guilty of conspiring to assassinate his deputy Rashid Osman.
