Somali President condoles death of Mohamed Qanyare

MOGADISHU, Somalia –Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed has sent deepest condolences to the family of former security minister, MP and faction leader Mohamed Qanyare Afrah, who died in Mogadishu.

Afrah passed away at a hospital in the capital, Mogadishu on Saturday after a short illness, his relatives said.

Mr. Mohamed has condoled the death of Afrah and sent his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and friends over the untimely tragic loss.

“My Government and I offer our sincerest condolences to the family and friends on the death of Mohamed Qanyare Afrah”, he said.

The deceased man was once Mogadishu’s 3rd most powerful leader after Ali Mahdi and Gen. Aidid before entering politics as deputy leader of United Somali Congress (USC).

He was also a successful businessman.
