MOGADISHU, Somalia – At least three soldiers have been killed on Saturday when a bomb explosion targeted a pick-up vehicle with local government officials in the Somali capital, Mogadishu.
The bomb blast injured Kahda deputy DC on security and political affairs, Abdinasir Hassan and killed 3 of his bodyguards near Hosh area of Mogadishu, a witness said.
He says Hassan had seriously wounded in the bomb attack.
The victim was taken into nearby hospital for medical assistance.
Somali armed group, al Shabaab, an al Qaeda-affiliate has immediately claimed the responsibility for the Saturday’s explosion through its website.
In the aftermath of the explosion, the police forces reportedly sealed off the area and carried out an operation over the bomb blast.
The police made no arrests yet.
Mogadishu has seen deadly bomb attacks claimed by Al Shabaab for the last two months in which killed almost 100 people, including two Turkish nationals.
Last week, the extremist group carried out a mortar attack that destroyed several security comers on the main streets of the capital, Mogadishu.
The group was pushed out of Mogadishu capital in 2011 by Somali army troops and 22,000-strong African Union force in Somalia.
The insurgents also lost most of their strongholds, but it still controls large rural areas and remains the key threat to peace in Somalia.
