In a series of intelligent reports from the region in the last three months, police officers have been on high alert following revelation that many suspected Al-Shabaab fighters had crosses into the Kenyan border from the neighbouring Somalia.

For instance, on Tuesday afternoon- police were alerted that Al-Shabaab militants lead by Sheikh Hussein aka Jahadir, Marehan and Reer Ali Hussein had crossed into the Kenyan border.

In 2010, a similar operation was conducted and suspected militants who arrived in the village driving in two pickups shot and injured five people.
