MOGADISHU – Somalia has declined to attend talks with the break-away Somaliland in Kenya’s capital Nairobi, amid strained relations between Kenya and Somalia over oil blocks row.

The Somalia-Somaliland consensus building meeting, which was expected to open earlier on Tuesday in Nairobi has failed.

Somalia’s Chief of Staff country’s President’s office, Nur Dirie Hersi says his government’s representatives would not participate in the expected Consensus Building Meeting in Nairobi.

He said, “we would like to confirm that the government is committed to engage in constructive dialogue with Somaliland when a suitable venue, agenda and participants are agreed”.
