MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somali Lower House parliament has questioned minister for Security, Mohamed Abukar Islow and minister for Air Transportation and Aviation Mohamed Abdullahi Salad Oomaar during Sunday’s session in Mogadishu.
Both of them appeared before the parliament meeting to be grilled for national security issues, said in a statement released by Lower House Speaker, Mohamed Abdirahman.
The country’s aviation minister Mohamed Abdullahi Salat Omaar was asked about the latest air restrictions his ministry imposed on former presidents Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, as well as alleged corruption within his ministry.
He denied all allegations that his ministry sanctioned an order to ban former leaders’ travel to the coastal town of Kismayo, some 500km south of the capital, Mogadishu.
Continuing his speech, he said that his ministry had never committed any corruption.
Meanwhile, Somali interior minister Mohamed Abukar Islow was also questioned about the latest killings mayor of Mogadishu Abdirahman Omar Osman, youth activist Elmas Elman and latest clashes between country’s Police Forces in Mogadishu.
Islow said his ministry still continues the investigation of Mayor Yarisow and Elmas, adding that he will soon release the results of his investigation.
