The UPDF, under the African Union Mission in Somalia, remains one of the biggest pillars in maintaining peace in war-torn Somalia.
The UPDF presence has pushed the Al-Shabaab militia from controlling most of the capital Mogadishu and large parts of the country, to wielding control over a few outlying non-strategic parts of the country.
