KISMAYO, Somalia – The chairperson of Somalia’s southern state Jubbaland council of change, Ahmed Jaamac Qalyar has been seriously injured in the port town of Kismayo, some 500km south of the capital, Mogadishu.

Qalyar was allegedly injured by the Jubaland soldiers, witnesses said.

He was rushed to a hospital.

Medical officials say the victim is in critical condition.

This comes a day after Jubaland president Ahmed Madobe sent a firm warning to his rivals, saying Kismayo would not be under several presidents, amid a disputed poll that took place last month.
