Somalia: Turkish engineer injured in Mogadishu explosion

MOGADISHU, Somalia – A Turkish engineer has been injured in bomb explosion on Sunday in Somali capital Mogadishu.

The victim, whose name has not been released yet, was wounded when bomb explosive fitted into his Hilux car exploded near Taleh area of Mogadishu, a witness said.

The attack also another civilian man and was taken into hospital.

It is unclear why the engineer was targeted.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for Sunday’s explosion in Mogadishu.

But, such attacks are often carried out by al Shabaab.

The al-Qaida-linked al-Shabaab militants continue to hold small rural areas in central and southern Somalia.

The group wants to overthrow the weak UN-backed government in Somalia and impose its own strict interpretation of Islamic law.

It has lost control of many towns and cities to a 22,000-strong African Union force supporting the government
