MOGADISHU, Somalia – The chairman of Himilo Qaran (National Vision),  Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed has arrived in Somali capital Mogadishu.

Sheikh Ahmed served as president of the Transitional Federal Government between 2009 and 2012. He was the 7th President of Somalia.

Upon his arrival, Mr. Ahmed was warmly at the airport in Mogadishu.

He says “we are happy that we are in the capital and we thank those who welcomed us.”

Mr. Ahmed is leading Himilo Qaran (National Vision) party.

He also announced last year that he will once again offer himself for the country’s top seat.

Mr. Ahmed said the inability of the current leadership to restore peace and security in the Horn of Africa country has compelled him to make a come-back to politics.

Sheikh Ahmed revealed that he has already formed a political party on whose ticket he will use to make a second stab for the top seat, according the Standard.

Under his leadership, the Transitional Federal Government succeeded in driving out Al Shabaab from Mogadishu and the surrounding areas with the help of African Union forces.
