MOGADISHU, Somalia – At least six people have been left wounded when roadside bomb explosion hit an animal market near Baidoa town, some 250km south west of Somali capital Mogadishu.
The explosion went off in Gofgudud village, 30km west of Baidoa town on Wednesday after an explosive, which was planted on the side of the market exploded, a policeman said.
He says the victims were taken into hospital for medical treatment.
It is unclear who carried out the attack.
But, such attacks are often carried out by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab.
The group carried out similar attacks for the past couple weeks in the capital of Mogadishu.
The Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab, which wants to topple the weak western backed government of Somalia, was driven out of Mogadishu in 2011.
The attack comes a day after U.S. military said it has killed eight Al Shabaab fighters in drone strike in south Mogadishu.
The strike was conducted on Tuesday after Somali and US troops came under ambush attack by Al Shabaab in Darusalam area near Awdhegle town, some 60km south of Mogadishu.
