Somali President flies to Burundi

MOGADISHU, Somalia – High level delegation led President of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed has flown to Burundi’s capital, Bujumbura.

President Mohamed departed from Somali capital Mogadishu, after an official invitation.

Mohamed will hold talks with Burundi’s President Pierre Nkurunziza, discussing on diplomatic relations and war on al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab.

Burundi, one of the biggest African Union troop contributing countries to AMISOM.

The African Union is reportedly pressing Burundi to withdraw about 1000 soldiers from Somalia, while continue fighting against Al Shabaab.

But, Somali regional officials in Middle Shabelle region warned that Al-Shabaab could occupy areas that vacated by Burundi’s soldiers under African Union mission known as AMISOM.
