NAIROBI, Kenya –Tens of thousands of people took to the streets of Eastleigh in Kenya’s capital Nairobi to condemn Tuesday’s suicide and gun attack Dusit hotel complex in Kenya, leaving 21 people dead.
Kenyan MP Yousuf Hassan, businessmen, religious and political leaders were among those joined the demonstration against al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab.
The protestors, who converged into Eastleigh were chanting slogans such as ” NO to Al-Shabaab, NO to violent extremism and YES to peace” .

“We are very sorry that al-Shabaab is committing atrocities in the name of Islam against the civilians who are Muslims”, the protestors said.
Tuesday’s attack on Nairobi hotel left 21 people dead after double suicide explosions followed by gunmen, who stormed into the hotel and then started randomly shooting.
Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta told journalists that its forces had killed four gunmen, who carried out the attack.
Somali armed group, Al Shabaab says claimed to have carried out Tuesday’s attack in the Nairobi hotel complex in retaliation for U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Sheikh Ali Mohamud, the group’s spokesman, said its fighters stormed into Dutsit hotel in Nairobi after car bomb explosions in a response to the “witless remarks” of Trump and his declaration of Jerusalem as capital of Israel.
Kenyan Police said at least 21 people had been killed at the capital’s Dusit D2 complex, where surveillance video showed at least four gunmen walking through the parking lot as the siege began in mid-afternoon.
