Somali MP shot dead in Baidoa

MOGADISHU – Somali MP from south west State region has been shot and killed during clashes involving supporters of Mukhtar Robow and Ethiopian forces in Baidoa town.

Baidoa, a town lies about 250km south west of Somali capital Mogadishu.

Hon. Abdishakur Ibrahim Bule was killed in heavy exchange of gunfight in the town on Friday, police man Mohamed Hussein said.

Bule was the head of regional Parliament’s subcommittee on security.

He says that disturbance continued in Baidoa for the second day in Baidoa town as some roads are still blocked with rocks, burning tires.

Ethiopian forces under African Union peacekeeping forces in the town are still trying to defuse the latest tension caused by the detention of Mukhtar Robow, former Al Shabaab leader, who is seeking South West state presidential election.

Robow is now under government’ hand after he was arrested from Baidoa and being airlifted into Mogadishu.
