MOGADISHU, Somalia – At least 45 people have been hospitalized after reportedly drinking contaminated milk near Carmo town in Somalia’s Bari region.
Faduma Abdullahi, a medical official said that family members, friends and neighbors who drank the milk had started complaining of stomach pain.
She says the victims were rushed into hospital.
In a phone interview, she said several other people who are said drank the milk were treated and discharged.
Women and children were among the victims, according to Faduma.
Local authorities in the area warned that some of the milk in the market is contaminated.
